Yijie (Jennifer) Chen is the proud mother of two wonderful children, and cares deeply about education. She came to Canada from China to study her Master’s degree in Kinesiology at the University of Manitoba, focusing her studies on the health of our communities.
She has a lot of experience that will help our school system. She worked at the Manitoba Legislative Assembly as a constituency assistant, focusing on supporting the community.
She also serves on the Board of Healthy Start for Mom & Me, Family Dynamics (settlement and social services for newcomers), Immigration Partnership Winnipeg Immigrant Advisory Table, Asian Heritage Society of Manitoba, Asian Women of Winnipeg, and was involved in this year’s Philippine Independence Week celebrations.
Her passion is to advocate for underrepresented communities and to help support a high quality and sustainable education system for families.
Yijie and her husband David have a two year old boy and a newborn baby girl. They are proud residents of the West End and the Winnipeg School Division.
